Hi, my name is Tsoghig Marieann Hekimian (pronounced Tso-heeg Maryann Heck-eem-ian, I go by Marieann), and I am an anti-racist mental health therapist. I received a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore where I specialized in clinical social work and participated in the BHWISE fellowship focused on treating mental illness in adolescents. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked at a community clinic as a therapist treating clients with a broad spectrum of diagnoses.
I specialize in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My approach to therapy incorporates evidence-based practices such principals of Internal Family Systems therapy (parts work), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), and meditation. I also completed Fluence’s training to become a Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration therapist. I am fluent in Western Armenian.
I guide my clients in their efforts to heal symptoms that arise from difficulties in interpersonal or familial relationships, traumatic experiences, and struggles related to the immigrant or first-generation American experiences. As an immigrant who came to the United States as a young child, I know very well how difficult it can be to balance the challenges of fitting in while trying to preserve one’s culture.
Most importantly, my goal is to empower you with the skills and tools you need to be liberated from emotional distress.
In our work together, I hope to help you find peace, understanding, and self-compassion.
